Besides the sweet name though, Our Own Candle Company has been one of my favorite candle companies ever since I discovered them. Not only do their candles all smell like sweet slices of heaven, but they also offer these sweet slices of heaven for prices that Yankee has never touched.
Only $6.00, and you walk away with a candle that matches the high quality of Yankee candles... to a tee. Only better though, seeing how they are in fact $6.00.
My Use:
I buy all of my Our Own Candle Company candles right next door to my job. I go in about once a month to see if the company has delivered them any new fragrances. Smell My Nuts, by far has the most unique; and funny name a candle I have ever seen labeled on a candle.
I of course twisted off the lid and smelled the nuts.
Initial Thought:
Smell my nuts is nutty alright. The first note I inhaled was that of walnut. It reminded me of it a lot, then almond, and a slight tone of vanilla and coconut. I liked it... I liked it enough to walk away with it.
I burn nearly all of my candles in my office, because it fills the room with scent that relaxes me. I knew that Smell My Nuts would give off that warm buttery nut scent that would put me in that relaxed mood.
The Scent When Burning:
It does not take long for Our Own Candle Company candles to fill the room with the fragrance. With past experience, I knew already that in a matter of 10 minutes the entire room was going to smell like nuts.
When burning Smell My Nuts takes on a different scent then it does when not burning. The scent though is very pleasing. Overall when burning I smell mostly coconut and vanilla. The nut fragrances sort of take a back seat as these two fragrances rule the rouse.
That is not a bad thing at all though, because throughout it's burning cycle it takes on other scents which are more nutty.
Once the wick begins to hit the bottom half of the wax things get more nut-licious. The candle is a light brown at the top half of the candle, and dark brown at the bottom half. I assume there is more nut oils in the bottom half because it gives off more buttery fragrances. The top half though is mostly a coconut vanilla scent.
I find that once the candle hits the bottom half of the wick that it has a stronger nut scent. When mixed though it is gorgeous.
Anyway, my office is pretty large. It sports 14 desks, and a big open meeting room in the back. It only takes Smell My Nuts about 15 minutes to disperse it's gorgeousness all throughout the room.
Like Coconut/Lime; from the same company... it too leaves it's scent behind for hours, even after being put out.
Overall:
Smell My Nuts is an interesting candle, with a nice warm fall fragrance. I enjoyed burning it in my office for the 3 weeks that it lasted (I got around 120 hours in burn time).
I do think that Smell My Nuts is a fragrance suited best for fall.
Availability:
Smell My Nuts can be found in random gift shops. I buy mine at Cotton Caper. For those without a Cotton Caper though, you can pick these gorgeous candles up by clicking here.
