Also I am still doing the poem a day, but putting the subtitle as the number of the day from here on. Just in case you are curious! Thanks so much for your encouragement and also for those who are doing the poem a day too!
Smells of My Childhood
My nose remembers when...
The bakery down the street
Made breads of different hues
And cakes and pies so sweet.
We walked past the butcher shop,
On hooks the hot dogs hung.
They made their own sausages
With smells to salivate your tongue!
Further down the Main Street
The candy and nut shop stood,
When they roasted the nuts on weekends
You could smell it across the 'hood.
Then a couple years later,
A great pizzaria appeared,
And without missing a beat;
Our noses and taste buds cheered!
It's been quite a while
Since my nose had such a treat,
But just those smells can take me back
And make my life complete!

It's amazing how certain smells can bring back childhood memories.
I do this a lot, I really love this... :o)
There are times I go into a bakery and smell something sweet and it takes me right back to my Grandmother's kitchen when I was a little waking her bake. I all but cry right there in the bakery.
