Smoked Salmon Platter with Accompaniments
Part of a Larger Article on "The Secret to Hosting a Fabulous Party"
Ingredients:
1 large package smoked salmon
1 cup mayonnaise
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. dill weed
1/2 cup capers
3 eggs, hard-boiled
1/2 cup purple onion, diced
1 long loaf Italian bread
olive oil
Heat oven to 350. Slice loaf of bread and brush each piece with olive oil. Bake until light golden brown (about 8-10 minutes). Slice smoked salmon into small pieces. Mix mayonnaise, lemon juice, and dill weed in a bowl. Whisk together until mixed thoroughly. Dice hard-boiled eggs; dice purple onion. Put all ingredients into separate containers and keep in refrigerator until time to serve.
You will need a large platter, and small, decorative ramekins or bowls for the dip, the onion, the egg, and the capers. You will also need four small serving spoons for the accompaniments, as well as a serving fork for the salmon. I like to press the salmon into a dome-shaped bowl and invert it onto the serving platter with the toast all around the salmon and the small bowls/ramekins.
