The cigarette companies buy the tobacco and inspect it, it is then mixed with what they called reclaim tobacco. What is this you ask? Its tobacco dust! Literally swept up off the floor of the warehouses where the tobacco is stored when it is being put into bails. the dust is bagged and sold too.
Next, the tobacco is put into a large vat with water, like a giant tea maker and the tobacco juices are literally squeezed out of the giant tea bag as they call it. through a tube into another vat. You aren't going to believe this next part , I know I wouldn't have -if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. While in this vat, was the liquid from the tobacco, chemicals were added just to name a few, acetone, glucose, formaldehyde, and liquid adhesive!
Moving on, the liquid is then sprayed onto large sheets of paper, and allowed to dry, Drying very quickly as it goes down a giant conveyor belt. The paper now coated with tobacco juices, nicotine, and the mixture of chemicals, is cut and rolled into tubes, and another machine adding the filter.
After this task was finished, the tube was then stuffed with tiny bits of actual tobacco which only made up about twenty percent of the actual content of the cigarette. Finally, the cigarette were counted and packaged to be shipped and sold to different companies. Some had blended tobacco while others. I was almost sick, the cigarette wasnt one hundred percent tobacco only twenty percent. All go through the squeezing process of all were made the same just different blending. I couldn't believe it. Both of my parents smoke , and I thought it was the tar and nicotine combined with the carbon monoxide that would destroy their health! Little did I know that these other chemicals were actually added for preservation or other means to the cigarettes.Of course I learned about the profit of cigarettes and how their consumption in society is useful and the origination of how tobacco products were first introduced in American homes But the actual making of the cigarette is was really got to me the most. How could people possibly smoke if they knew and were aware of the facts of what was added I don't understand how producers can get away with making cigarettes like this. however that was exactly how they were produced and also I learned that smoking was one of the main causes of health issues in the United States today. Now I can truly understand why! Don't take my word for it, look on the internet, or go to a factory where they are produced or read a book on them, unless they leave things out. this is how cigarettes are produced today.
