Smoking vs. Anti-Smoking vs. Everything

Kathleen Shaeffer
It seems the number one complaint these days is smoking vs. anti smoking. Oh how horrible we smokers are who dares to light up and pollute the air.

Well speaking of polluting lets check out a few things that goes into our system which we have no control over..and who okays it? The wonderful Government of course. The FDA

Our fruits and vegetables have pesticides, gee I wonder what those can do to us.

Our meats are filled with preservatives and dye to keep freshness. (Or just make it look pretty in the stores, we buy it in.

Many other foods put on the shelves in the stores, are prepared with MSG, or monosodiumglutimate which can cause mental confusion in some people, not to mention raise their blood pressure.

What about our canned goods, such as tuna? Do you know that a certain percentage of pieces of rodents, such as rats, and their hairs are allowed to be processed in the cans for our consumption? By now it is pretty general information. How about a little rat hair with your peanut butter? A fly head with your macaroni and cheese? Though it may sound disgusting, these things and other gross filth the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) calls "natural contaminants" are indeed allowed and present in your food.

Check it out.

Sounds real healthy doesn't it?

There are many things that we ingest on a daily basis that isn't the best for our systems, but do we stop? No, we don't it's a way of life.

Smoking has been a way of life for many people. Tobacco has been around longer than the United States has.

Sure there are risks, but isn't there risks in everything we do? There isn't one thing that we do in our life that isn't risky. Nothing. Skiing is a risk, but some choose to do it. Swimming is a risk, but some choose to do it. Driving is a risk, and most choose to do it. Flying is a risk, but people choose to do it. Bungee jumping is one hell of a risk, but some choose to do it.

Look at the medicines that we are prescribed, the side affects are pretty bad, and scary if we suffer any of them..but what if these meds are taken for years..aren't we risking a shutting down of our organs from all these meds that we are put on for many different problems?

Anti-smokers choose to do some things that are risky, so where are they any different than us smokers? Why should one risk be any different that the other?

Not everyone is going to die due to their smoking. With all the ways of dying in this world, smoking may agitate some of them, but in my opinion it isn't the cause.

I believe a lot of scare tactics have been used over the years to influence people in regard to smoking. There are so many other things that are needed to be checked into, that are more serious. Look at what our world is coming to; murderers, rapists, incest, terrorists. Does the smoking problem compare? I don't think so, at least people who smoke, want to smoke. It has always been their choice.

I do not think the tobacco companies should have paid out to lawsuits. It has always been a choice of the people to smoke, and therefore it wasn't the tobacco companies fault, (if it was indeed caused by smoking that caused their death), they only supplied the tobacco to the markets .

If I have an allergy to lobster and I go to a restaurant and eat it and die..I don't expect my family to sue the restaurant or the suppliers of the lobsters to the restaurant. Wouldn't that be about the same thing?
