If you have never been to Dolly Parton's Dollywood's Smoky Mountain Christmas Festival, you are missing out on a wonderful experience for the whole family. Listed as one of the South's largest festivals, Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, puts on one of the most spectacular Christmas events you can possibly see. This year's festival runs from Nov. 10 through Dec. 30. Based on past festivals, I am sure that this year's festival will not disappoint anyone who attends. During the 7-week festival, there are several stage shows, rides, food and, of course, lights. Each year during the Christmas festival, Dollywood has more than 3 million lights on display. You have never seen so many beautiful light displays in one location like you will see at Dollywood.

Again this year, Dollywood will feature the musical stage show, Babes in Toyland. This show has been so popular that Dollywood brought it back again this year. It is one of Dollywood's most elaborate stage shows ever. There are 20 performers and a fully-orchestrated musical score to go along with the show. You will see 21 toy soldiers marching across the stage with an 11 foot tall General leading them. After enjoying Babes in Toyland, make sure you go visit the giant toy workshop called Santa's Workshop. Santa's Workshop is filled with huge toys, a giant puzzle and the most popular part of the workshop, Santa. The children can visit with Santa and see his workshop in action. They can help put together the giant puzzle or gaze through the giant view-master.

There are several other events going on during the festival that the whole family will find enjoyable.

Christmas in the Smokies, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and O' Holy Night are musical stage shows. Each show features several cast members and bands performing for your entertainment.

Christmas with the Kingdom Heirs is a celebration of Southern Gospel Christmas hymns and songs. The Kingdom Heirs group will perform some of your favorite southern gospel music.

Victorian Melodies is a strolling musical group that goes through Dollywood singing holiday songs from the Victorian era. This group is dressed in period costumes and you may find them just about anywhere in the park.

Appalachian Christmas is a celebration of acoustic Christmas at the Back Porch Theater. There will be performances of Appalachian music that will surely take you back in time.

While visiting Dollywood, you may find Ebenezer Scrooge walking around the park spreading his own Christmas cheer to park goers.

A festival at Dollywood would not be complete without a parade. The Parade of Lights is a daily parade featuring Christmas floats covered in lights with holiday characters riding on the floats.

One of the most beautiful special events to be held in the park is the Carol of the Trees. Each night the trees along Rivertown Lake are lit up with thousands of lights and pyrotechnics synchronized with holiday music. It's like a symphony of the trees.

No matter where you go in the park during the festival, there is always something to do and see. If you make plans to come to Dollywood for the festival, you and your family will have the most memorable Christmas ever and you will want to make the Smoky Mountain Christmas Festival a yearly tradition.
