Smoothing Dry Hair

Virginia Chavez

Your hair is probably no stranger to heat damage. Almost every woman blow dries her hair on a daily basis; some even blow dry twice daily.

Blow drying alone, without the proper heat protectant can damage hair and hair is its weakest when it's wet. Running a brush through it while blow drying can increase breakage and dry out whatever moisture it received during conditioning.

What can you do to replenish that moisture?

1) Rinse conditioner out with cool water. Rinsing conditioner out with cool water seals the hair shaft, locking moisture in.

2) Use a heat protectant, preferably natural oils, Argan oil is a natural heat protectant. It forms a thin protective layer over the hair shaft when it's applied to wet hair, protecting it from heat damage while it nourishes and repairs dry hair.

3) Trim hair regularly. Clipping away dead ends regularly will prevent the split from moving upward and damaging more of each hair-strand. Nip the dead end in the bud, so that your hair can grow healthier.
