Whether you are just trying to watch what you eat or you want to make some healthy swaps in your diet, altering snack favorites to be just as tasty without the added calories is simple. Snacks are great for a variety of reasons-from giving you some energy between meals to helping curb hunger so you make wiser food choices during meals. Health.com offers a handful of tips for turning everyday snack favorites into healthier versions. After making the simple swaps enjoy your daily snacks without having to worry about how long you need to get on the treadmill just to burn them off.

Old: Tortilla Chips with guacamole
New: Baked pita chips and fresh salsa

Fresh tomatoes chopped up with jalapeno peppers and onions offer plenty of flavors with health benefits like vitamins and lycopene. Cut pita chips into triangles and bake until crispy for a crunchy snack with half the fat.

Old: Whipped cream on iced drinks
New: Chocolate or vanilla powder

While iced drinks taste delicious, they often have enough calories to rival an entire meal. Adding whipped cream to the top only adds to the fat and calorie count so Health.com suggests adding a chocolate or vanilla powder to the drink to save at least 90 calories.

Old: Pie a la mode
New: Fresh fruit and frozen yogurt

One of the tastiest comfort foods is warm fruit pie with a scoop of ice cream on the side. As delicious as it is, it's high in calories. For a healthier version, slice up your favorite fruit and add a serving of fat-free vanilla yogurt instead of ice cream. Aside from the light, fresh taste you'll save yourself at least 200 calories.

Old: Un-spiced sides
New: Cayenne powder

What's one way to enjoy your favorites but ensure you eat less of them in one sitting? Sprinkle them with a spicy seasoning like Cayenne powder. Health.com suggests that adding a spicy flavor to your foods improves taste while keeping your hunger in check.
