Snacking Healthy at Disney: Easy and Healthy Snacks to Bring into Disneyland

Maggie Blake
In recent years, the Disneyland Resort in Southern California has done much to improve their menus to include healthy food options for park guests. However, many guests still find that they need to pack in healthy snacks for themselves and their children. Packing healthy snacks into Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure park is both simple and easy. If you are looking for ideas for healthy snacks to bring along on your next visit to Disneyland, consider the following suggestions.

Dried Fruits - Bringing dried fruits into the Disney parks has never been easier because there are now so many conveniently packaged dried fruit products on the market. These dried fruit products are easy to find in any grocery store, and some grocery stores have large selections. Dried fruit supplies a quick, and sweet snack to adults and children alike, without added sugar or high fructose corn syrup. Additionally, dried fruit can help combat the "Disney Tummy" that can result from eating too much of the foods prepared inside the parks.

As for which dried fruits to bring into the parks, the choices are almost limitless. Raisin boxes are easy to manage on the run, and come in different sizes to accommodate everyone from toddlers to adults. Even yogurt raisins can be purchased in single serving boxes now, or you may opt to purchase them in bulk. Fruit rolls and fruit leathers are both super convenient and easy to manage while in a theme park. Or, consider making some dried fruits of your own at home with your dehydrator before your trip to Disneyland. Apples can be easily dried at home by first being sliced, and then dipped into pineapple juice before being placed on the dehydrator trays.

Whole fruit - Fresh fruit can be another great healthy snack to pack along on your Disneyland trip. Items like Bananas and apples are very portable. Melon can be cut into chunks and packed in reusable plastic containers or large Ziploc baggies. Softer fruits like whole peaches and nectarines can be brought in, although extra care should be taken to pack them in a way that lessens the possibility that they will get smashed before being eaten. Even plastic containers of berries can be tucked into a backpack that you are taking into the parks. For fruit that is not in season, consider packing canned peaches, pineapple, or pears packed in 100% juice, but be sure to choose the brands that come with an easy pull-top. You can grab a plastic spoon or fork at any restaurant in the Disney parks.

Granola - Granola is a fantastic choice when you want a healthy snack to pack into Disneyland. Packaged granola bars are convenient to buy, easy to pack, and a great choice for a snack while walking through the parks or even waiting in a ride line. Or, look for stores near you that sell bulk granola in different varieties, such as granola with bits of dried fruit mixed in.

Sliced veggies - There are certain veggies that are easy to pack into the parks at the Disneyland Resort. Consider carrot sticks, sliced cucumbers, or raw broccoli.

Enjoying healthy snacks while at the Disneyland parks doesn't have to be complicated, inconvenient, or expensive. With a little thought and planning ahead, it's easy to pack along delicious healthy snacks to enjoy during your visit to Disneyland.
