Snacks for a Happy Healthy Valentines Day

S. Morris
So us parents are always looking for ways to get around unhealthy habits for our children. Especially on holidays. We want them to have fun and enjoy themselves, but want an alternative to all the candy and junk foods. Valentines Day is almost here. We only have a few weeks left. Some of you may be having a small party at home for you children or you may be a volunteer bringing goodies to your child's school. Well you may be out of ideas for a healthy snack to have or bring for them. Either way I have some more healthy choices and tips for you. Here's a list of ideas:

-You could make little heart shaped sandwiches. Get some cookie cutters in the shape of hearts. Different sizes would be good. Whole wheat bread, lean lunch meat, and the kraft single sliced cheese. Make them first then cut the shapes out.

-Get the twisted pretzels, that look similar to hearts. Get the big container, or two, of the strawberry yogurt. They can dip. Lots of fun.

- Get raisins, berry jam, and whole wheat crackers. Put the peanut butter on the crackers. Use the raisins to make a heart shape and fill the heart in with jam.

-Another pretzel snack that is good. Pretzels dipped in honey with coconut.

-A drink idea would be pink lemonade. Put some raspberries in it. Frozen or fresh would work.

-My last idea would be a fruit salad mixture. You will need bananas, strawberries, oranges, raisins, yogurt, and coconut. Mix all of it together, except the coconut. Use it to sprinkle on the top.

Now I hope you can use these ideas. A good way to make it look fun and more exciting for your children. Who think everything is better in candy form. I would use pretty pink, purple, red, etc. plastic trays, plates, cups. Also there are stores such as; walmart or the dollar store, that have cheap decorative items. Which is good if your tight on money right now. It would spice everything up a bit. So have a Happy Healthy Valentines Day!
