Here are some good snacks to keep you on track for losing weight and being healthy. They are great alternatives to the terrible, traditional snacks that many people indulge in without considering the adverse health effects.

1. Apples - An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Fun fact: They keep your teeth clean too! Crisp, hard fruits like these are nature's way of getting rid of plaque. Beyond that, they have 5 grams of fiber and very few calories. In case you aren't aware, fiber is the secret to weight loss. They leave you feeling full and promote a healthy digestive system.

2. Fat Free Cheese - This is an ideal diary snack. No carbs or fat, just protein. This is an excellent way to get your protein in and it is loaded with calcium. Cheese also helps to fill you up and leave you feeling satisfied. It is also a great on the go snack.

3. Low Calorie Yogurt - These are good snacks for you when you need energy, but don't overdo it. No more than 1-2 a day. Even the low calorie ones have a good amount of carbs in them so you want to make sure and limit the intake of it. Also try to have these earlier in the day rather than before you go to bed. They do fill you up, and the blueberry ones taste excellent!

4. Nuts - This is an excellent snack. Before you freak out at the amount of fat in each serving, be aware that these are good fats. These fats actually help you to lose weight. Also they are loaded with protein as well. 1-2 servings of nuts a day will help to supply a constant amount of energy and serve to fulfill the daily requirement of fat intake in your diet.

5. Protein Shakes - These are considered snacks rather than meals because supplements do not serve the same function as a whole meal. Be sure to get the real lean ones with little carbs and fat. They help you to build muscle, suppress appetite, and burn calories throughout the day.

There goes 5 easy snacks to use to assist your weight loss endeavors. When you go to the grocery store, be sure to buy these instead of the chips or crackers. When you force yourself to have healthy snacks, you will break your old habits and reform a new you! Good luck!
