Sneak Peak Album Review of 93 by Mowgli

Rich Jones
One of my favorite artists is Kelly Clarkson and because of the holidays I have been listening to a lot of her music. It is something about this time of year that leads me to depressing music during a time when the world is supposed to be happy. After going to her concert I started listening to a lot of songs by Jewel, Maniac, Madonna and Laura Branigan which lead me to an artist named Nicole Rowley who does a track called Water that is an amazing track in which two styles that are very similar to Madonna and Ali Vegas or a young Lloyd banks mixed together musically. If you could imagine what it would sound like to have Madonna and 50 Cent together on a track then you can picture what Water sounds like. It is two types of music that are totally different mixed nicely into a unique form of music. The song Water was recorded by an artist called Mowgli and not from The Jungle Book. Mowgli is a Hip Hop artist with a fast Battle Rap style that is cut throat and unique. He is one of the few artists attempting to make tracks outside of his usual box in terms of what is expected of him and this is the reason I decided to pre order his CD via Best Buy and I figured I would listen to the CD via Youtube before it arrived in stores so I would know what I was getting.

The CD titled 93 is jam packed with material and this is a problem on this CD because it does not allow for the concentration of a theme or concept which would have lent to the listening experience on this project. The CD includes 25 tracks which is just too much for this CD in my opinion. They could have removed at least 7 tracks and that would have made concentration on the theme easier. The CD includes appearances by Fames, Flutterby, Jamm Baxter, Stowaway, Mp3don, Sound Scientist, Stoaway and Nicole Rowley and this is a guest appearance list that is massive. I understand the temptation to include other artists to appeal to the masses but this is a project that is just too packed with material. I would rate this CD a 3/5 because it has too much material, it is great for fans but the casual fan will have a hard time catching on.
