Sneak Peak Album Review of The Alesha Show: Encore CD by Alesha Dixon

Rich Jones
Alesha Dixon is a British RNB singer and artist that I discovered while visiting Facebook. Basically, their website suggested that I become her fan and because I had never heard her music I decided to listen to some of the stuff that she has posted on Myspace and I enjoyed her music and became a fan of her music. What I liked about her music is that she is singing about usual RNB topics that is a hurt that will not go away. A hurt expressed in song and healed by the method of using words. She reminds me of a combination of Destiny's Child and Christina Aguilera. Many people have also compared her to Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Brandy. According to Billboards.com Alesha is very popular and well known in Europe and I can see why after listening to tracks such as To Love Again which is a song I can relate to because I have been through experiences just like what is described in the song and I hope I can push on much as she does musically in the song. For that reason, I decided to pre order her CD The Alesha Show: Encore at Target but I figured I would listen to the CD via Youtube before it arrives in stores and see what I would be getting.

I was impressed with this CD overall, it includes 18 tracks in total and 1 of these is hidden. Five tracks of the 18 included are bonuses tracks and these include tracks such as To Love Again, Shake and The Light just to name a few. Alesha was formally a member of the group Mis-Teeq that toured around the United States and was pretty successful. However, in this project she stands out on her own and does a great job of doing so. Producers include Brian Higgins, Steve Booker, John Shanks and Gary Barlow just to name a few. The beats are done well and the songs are often a mix between Blues and Funk music that makes this CD a blessing. It has some great dance music and balances that with some music that comes straight from her heart. This is one of the better CDs that I have heard in a while and for that reason I would rate this a 4/5. I felt that there was too much material included her and some of it should have been shaved down but the CD is very good still.
