Sneak Peak Album Review of Alter Ego by Andre 3000

Rich Jones
We live in a world today with stars like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan use either status in Hollywood in order to branch out into other forms of entertainment. We have also seen this with people like DMX, Ludacris, Britney Spears and even Terrell Owens. What all of these people have in common is that they are guilty of attempting to expand their fame beyond original boundaries by branching out into other forms of entertainment in order to keep their name in lights. While many of these people have found little or no success with this approach Andre 3000 was one of the original musicians to branch out from music and into films and with this method he has become very successful as both a musician and an artist. Andre 3000 is a member of the group Outkast and over the last ten years he has used his music as a way to branch out from the Outkast group and make solo music while also working on Hollywood movies. I have been a fan of his since I heard the smash hit Ms. Jackson in 2001. According to the Billboard charts available via their website at Billboards.com this single hit number 1 on the top 100 singles and also netted Outkast a Grammy. Ever since I heard this single I have been a big fan on Andre 3000 because he makes Rap music that is very positive and it inspires happiness without any negative lyrics or feelings. According to Amazon similar artists include Will Smith, Radiohead, Fugees and Beck. I would say that the music is a combination of all three and these are the reason I decided to pre order his album titled Alter Ego via Mixunit. I thought I would listen to his album via Youtube before the album arrives to see if it is worth the money and if the material is any good.

This CD features 30 tracks in total and this may seem like a lot of material but the CD is about 70 minutes so each track is pretty short. Some of the tracks are under one minute and they are blended into other tracks but the blending is not always smooth which takes away from the quality of the CD. The featured artists include big boi, Kelis, Gwen Stefani, Mary Gray, Big Gip, Cherokee, Erykah Badu, Devin The Dude and Slick Rick amongst others. This is a good CD that just has too much material and some of it should have been removed, I would rate this a 3/5.
