Sneak Peak Album Review of Cain's Redemption CD by Paul Cain

Rich Jones
Paul Cain is a musician and Rap star that formally aligned himself with DJ Clue and Desert Storm Records. Back in 1999 he was a regular on any DJ Clue mix tape along with Stack Bundles, Joe Budden and fellow label mate Fabolous. He has done many great tracks with Joe Budden and Fabolous and he has proved his talent for putting together words. However, the process of promoting artists within the recording industry since his record label decided to promote Fabolous has troubled Cain. Typically a record label can only promote one artist at a time and Fabolous became very famous after releasing his debut CD. Although Cain has proven to be a very talented Rapper in terms of skill he has been left behind by the promotion of Fabolous. Since Fabolous has become one of the most successful crossover acts in urban music it left Paul Cain behind to make some great mix CD music. For this reason I decided to pre order his new CD titled Cain's Redemption via Mixunit but I thought I would listen to the CD via Youtube to see how good the CD actually is.

This CD has 17 tracks on it and it runs about 45 minutes in total from start to finish. While this may sound like a lot of tracks you need to know that a total of 5 tracks are wasted on introductions and skits of various types. So essentially, the album has 12 tracks of new material and of these I would say that I enjoy 8 of them. The CD features such artists as Deacon Frost, Boulevard, Don Dilli and Young Zito but there are no features included from Fabolous as I had expected. The best tracks on this CD are Raw Nights, Lords Of War, Hustle Hard, and No Friends but I think these are probably the only tracks worth the money. The rest of the songs are just no typical Paul Cain and they feel forced. He seems to be pushing material in order to fill up the CD and release it. This CD is used for promotion but it feels like the only purpose for this reason. Paul Cain has a lot of talent but this CD is a waste of that talent. If he wants to get out of the shadow of Fabolous then he will need to avoid putting out lackluster efforts. I rate this CD 2/5 and I suggest that you skip it.
