Sneak Peak Album Review of Calliope Click CD by C-Murder

If you don't know who C-Murder is then you probably do not listen to Rap at all. Over the past few years C-Murder has become infamous for an ironic twist to his name that landed him in jail. C-Murder is named Corey Miller and he was convicted of second-degree murder in 2009. He was sentenced to life without parole from the Jury and he later appeared in various publications to say that he believes he Rap name contributed to his conviction. I don't know if this is the case but I believe that the music you produce will shape the perceptions that fans have of you as a person. Corey Miller is also the brother of Master P and uncle of Lil Romeo who are two of the most successful rappers from New Orleans. Master P has sold millions of records and this makes him one of the most wealthy rappers in the world according to Billboard Charts available via their website Billboard.com. I have always enjoyed the brand of Rap from New Orleans because it is filled with some of the most hardcore lyrics despite the poverty surrounding their environment. For this reason I decided to pre order the album by C-Murder titled Calliope Click via Amazon but I thought I would listen to the CD via Youtube to see if it was any good.

The CD has 18 tracks in total and is about 72 minutes in length from start to finish. The CD features such artists as Snoop Dogg, B.G., and Juvenile and this may seem to the southern music fan like a great combination but it falls short in every spot. The problem for me is that a lot of this CD is about being a thug and gangster but on the tracks that include guests C-Murder falls short. He does not sound as tough as the other rappers and his lyrics are outshined by every one of them on each track. I also did not enjoy the gangster theme of many songs because they show very little hope for a man with such talent. If you consider the fact he has just been convicted of a crime I expected a more mellow tone. There are some very good tracks on the CD and they are It's So Hard, The Life I Live, and I Don't Understand. These are the only songs that showed growth and the only that I enjoyed. I would rate this CD 2/5 because of the lack of progress here.
