Sneak Peak Album Review of Crazy Heart Soundtrack by Various Artists

Rich Jones
Some people watch a movie and then buy the soundtrack because it reminds them of the film. Others listen to the music from the film first and then build off of that music for ideas of the movie. What I can tell you is film stars Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrel and the buzz behind the film indicates that it is very well done. With that aside I thought I would listen to the upcoming soundtrack for the film and see if the soundtrack was just as good. A great soundtrack can either make or break an entire film with a few good songs and I had hoped for the best with this release. I looked up the information via the Itunes Music Store and I was told that this was a Country music release. I am glad about this because I am a huge Country music fan and I decided to preview the album via Youtube before it arrives in stores.

The CD is 16 songs in total and about 55 minutes in length from start to finish. This is a big positive for the CD because it does not lack material like many other soundtracks do. It also includes every track that has been included on the film and the CD is packed with material. I also loved the fact that there are many artists featured on the CD and it does not include as many skits as other soundtracks. The artists included on this soundtrack include Jeff Bridges, Buck Owens, The Louvin Brothers, Ryan Bingham, Lightnin' Hopkins, Waylon Jennings, Townes Van Zandt, Sam Phillips, Robert Duvall, and Ryan Bingham. The best songs on this CD are Hello Trouble, Once A Gambler, and The Weary Kind. This CD offers plenty to listen to and has a good amount of replay value. The songs make a good collection of Country music and I believe any fan of Country will enjoy this CD. I can tell you that the material on this CD is well worth the $14 that the CD sells for because the music adds a lot to the film. It sets the mood for a story telling and tugs at heartstrings. This is what any good soundtrack sets out to do and the Crazy Heart Soundtrack is probably one of the best soundtracks of this year. I would rate this CD 4/5 because it has some great music.
