Sneak Peak Album Review of Ghosts on the Boardwalk by Bouncing Souls

Rich Jones
The Bouncing Souls are a musical band that mixes Pop and Rock and some Metal music into a brand of music that sometimes sounds like Ozzy Osbourne and then sometimes sounds a lot like the music released by Taking Back Sunday or Sum 41. If you are a fan of Taking Back Sunday then you will love this band because their brand of music is exactly the same. They are essentially a throw back to a time when bands would make you get out of the chair and jump up and down. The music is crammed with apathetic lyrics that discuss the realities of the world today. According to their website they are a group that was formed in 1987 at a high school in New Jersey when the members decided they wanted to start a Punk Rock group. Twenty years later that group includes Greg Attonito, Pete Steinkopf, Bryan Kienlen, and Michael McDermott and they have gone on the produce some very successful music that has appeared in Hollywood movies soundtracks as well as video games such as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 and Burnout 3 amongst others. I have been a fan of their music ever since I first heard their song Joe Lies and for this reason I decided to pre order their album titled Ghosts on the Boardwalk via Amazon but I thought I would listen to the CD via Youtube before it arrives in stores to see if it is any good.

The CD features 12 tracks and it is just 45 minutes in length, which for me is a big negative point because fans have been waiting on this CD for almost two years and it should have included more material. A CD can hold almost double the amount of material that was included on this project. The best tracks are We All Sing Along, Badass and I Think That the World. If you like this band then you will also enjoy music by Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Gaslight Anthem, and Foxboro Hot Tubs. However, none of the material on this project is as good as their earlier material and the album falls short of expectations. I would rate this CD a 2/5 because it has some decent songs but overall not a lot of material and this is not their best stuff. I think they probably just randomly put this together and it shows.
