Sneak Peak Album Review of Gucey Valentine by Guce

Rich Jones
The reason I listen to a lot of music is became the topics are reflective of the environment the artist comes from. If you listen to tracks recorded by a rapper from New York then you will hear tales about a unique reality. This is a reality that you wouldn't be able to understand unless you were from New York. Being that I was raised in New York I was always pushed to listen to Rap from New York. These artists included people like Biggie, Nas and 50 Cent. However, the great thing about music is that you can learn about other places within the United States without having visited these places. The first time I heard a track by Da Brat I was surprised by the pictures painted about life in Atlanta. I was always surprised that people outside of New York could have the same life experiences as someone living in New York. This is what made me love southern artists and I became a big fan of Guce. I decided to pre order his album titled Gucey Valentine via Mixunit but I thought I would listen to the CD via Youtube before it arrives and see how good the CD actually is.

There are 19 tracks on the CD in total and the length is about 65 minutes from start to finish. There are 2 tracks that are skits and these are simply wasted space on the CD. I wish Guce had filled this space with more music because this is not a complete collection of his music. It is also not his best material and this is a problem for me because it is missing tracks like Bullys Wit Slap, However, what I like about this CD is that many artists are featured including Matt Blaque, Da Goonies, J. Stalin, Killa Keise, Magnolia Chop, Young June, The Jacka, Miss Tiff, Philthy Rich and Freddy B. The best tracks on this CD are Got To Go, Can I Roll, and Peep Them but these are only a few of the good tracks on this CD. This CD is a great one for any new fan of Guce because he mixes and blends his lyrics with tracks originally recorded by others. Most of these tracks are well known and famous outside of this CD and that lends a lot of appeal to this CD. I would rate this 3/5 for the lyrics and beats.
