Sneak Peak Album Review of Heartworn Tragedy by Bart Crow Band

Rich Jones
Bart Crow is a musician that I discovered by accident one day when I was shopping at my local Hastings bookstore. I was there to get coffee and I noticed a sign saying that Bart Crow would be appearing that night for a free concert and so I thought I would stay and listen to the live music and see how good it was. Bart Crow sings an emotional type of County music that will tug at the heartstrings. The songs are most about the sad realities in life and how hard life can be. The themes are similar on many songs but they are each done in a very emotional and deep way that I loved. Bart performed his single Wear My Ring which topped the Billboard Charts on the County section available via their website at Billboards.com. In any event, Bart Crow is leader and front man of the Bart Crow Band and they are one of the most popular bands in a brand of music called Texas County. Bart performed by himself live at Hastings and it was an amazing performance.

He played all of the tracks off of his CD Heartworn Tragedy before it is released in stores. I decided to pre order the CD via the Hastings website but I thought I would listen to the album and see if it is worth the price before I spent the money on the CD. What I didn't like about the CD is that it only has 11 tracks and is about 45 minutes in length and that is very short. The nice thing about this CD is that it is literally filled with amazing songs about tragedy and bouncing back from that tragedy. The best songs are Traded it all for Love, Say'n Goodbye, Run With the Devil, and Satisfied Heart. This is an amazing album because all of the lyrics were personally written by Bart as a result of some family problems that he had. He told the crowd at the performance that he wrote the songs based on what he was feeling when his mother was going through a depression and alcohol problem because the song writing became the best way to heal the pain. If you like this CD you will also like Josh Abbott Band, Blackberry Smoke, Casey Donahew Band, and Eli Young Band. This is the best CD I have heard this year because it is so heartfelt and I rate it a 5/5.
