Sneak Peak Album Review of Heat Fetish by the Bled

Rich Jones
I first became a fan of The Bled when I heard their single titled Heat Fetish on the local radio station in New York. The single talks about overdosing on blood and I thought this was an enjoyable concept. What I liked about this is that The Bled was able to take an expression that is well known to most listeners in the United States and twist it in a weird way. I loved the concept of wordplay in that way and I loved that dark Metal music concept. I also love RNB and emotional music but I find that Metal music allows for the expression of anger. It also makes me feel better when I listen to Metal music and this is the reason I decided to give The Bled a listen. A friend of mine suggested that I pre order their upcoming CD titled Heat Fetish via iTunes. I thought it would be a good idea to listen to Heat Fetish before it arrives in stores via YouTube and see if my money was wasted on this release.

Heat Fetish is an album that includes 12 tracks and the total length is about 43 minutes from start to finish. I did not enjoy the fact that The Bled wastes nearly half of the space on Heat Fetish because I would have liked to have more material included on the CD. If you enjoyed their previous CD titled Silent Treatment then I believe you will also enjoy Heat Fetish because the content is essentially the same. However, Silent Treatment is a better all around release than Heat Fetish because the lyrics are jumbled on this CD and hard to hear. I enjoy listening to the lyrics on albums and Heat Fetish does not allow this since the lyrics and loud and fast through the entire CD. The best tracks on this release are When Exiting Your Vehicle, Devolver, and Crowbait. However, these are the only three tracks that are worth owning. This means that Heat Fetish is a CD worth $3 and not the $10 that it ran me to pre order this CD. If you like bands like Iron Butterfly, Judas Priest and Twisted Sister then you will love Heat Fetish by The Bled. I would rate this CD 2/5 and I suggest that you skip this release because it does not have a lot of content and very little replay value.
