Sneak Peak Album Review of Industry Takeover 7 by D-Block

Rich Jones
If you listen to Rap then you need to know who D-Block is, because according to Billboard charts available via their website at Billbards.com they have collectively sold millions of records and that is no small accomplishment. Especially when you consider that The Lox is a unique brand of music because they made what is largely known as Hardcore Rap and are specifically very famous for their New York style of hard hitting raps.

They have also been able to find a lot of mainstream success when signed to Bad Boy Records alongside Puff Daddy, Mase, Black Rob, Biggie, Faith Evens and 112. After leaving the label they then found success alongside Ruff Ryders Records artists such as Eve, DMX, Swizz Beatz and Drag-on. This eventually lead to the formation of D-block Records which included Styles P, Sheek Louch, Jadakiss and Jaehood. However, when Jaehood was released from the record company artists such as Bully and Jaysun replaced him. Because I have been a fan of D-block for so long I decided to pre order their new album which is a mixtape titled "Industry Takeover 7" via Mixunit but thought I would listen to the album via YouTube before it it arrives in stores.

The CD includes 37 tracks, which are pretty short, and some are blended and mixed in verses that are done by DJ White Owl and the annoying part is his screaming on the record. The artists features on the CD include Raekwon, Beanie Sigel, Junior Reid, Papoose, Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, Tony Sunshine, Bully, Prodigy, Ray J, Bun B, Ransom and Lord Finesse. This is a great feature list but it just crowds up an otherwise good CD, the tracks that include features do not belong on this CD in my opinion and I wish that there were removed from the album.

The best tracks on this CD are "Broken Safety", "Trouble On My Mind" and "I'm On Fire" but there is a lot of solid material here. There are also some pretty good freestyle tracks that and fan will enjoy, this is a good CD but the DJ talking and various noises are annoying. Also, the production quality is pretty bad but the material is enjoyable and that makes the CD a 4/5 rating to them. If you enjoy their music then you should make sure that you pick up this when it arrives in stores.
