Sneak Peak Album Review of For Lovers Only by Maxwell

Rich Jones
For as long as I could remember I have been a fan of RNB music. Even when I was a child I remember thinking there was something about each song that made it unique. In truth, most of the songs are about females and love. How you feel when you lose a loved one or having moved on. However, there is something that I find very unique about the expression of those feelings and that is what has always made RNB stand out to me from an early age. Now that I can relate I find myself listening to RNB more than ever and I frequently list to artists like Joe, Alicia Keys, Chrisette Michele, Charlie Wilson, and Jazmine Sullivan. For this reason, Amazon suggested that I listen to Maxwell based on my musical interest and that is when I discovered this amazing musical act. I am a little late because according to Billboard charts available via their website at Billboards.com he has sold millions of records world wide. What these means is that a collection of his songs should do very well in stores and get a lot of attention around the world. For this reason I decided to pre order his album titled For Lovers Only via Amazon and I thought I would listen to the album via Youtube before it arrives in stores so I would know what I will be getting.

The CD includes 15 tracks in total and it is designed to be a collection of the best work that he has ever released. I think the material on this CD is great for the most part because it includes tracks like Get To Know Ya, Til The Cops Come Knockin and Ascension just to name a few. It also includes two unplugged tracks from his MTV Unplugged CD and that is something I am happy about. The reason people often don't buy CDs is because the project is usually short on material but this CD has no such problem. This is a collection of Maxwell songs that any fan will enjoy, the only problem is that most of the songs in this period were recorded just a while back, which means that a true complete collection should be in the works. It is by no means a greatest hits CD but this CD does include some of his best material and I would rate it a 4/5.
