Sneak Peak Album Review of "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" by Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey is probably one of the biggest stars in the world today. The reason for this is that she makes amazing music, I could remember the first time I heard her voice and I was amazed because of the high notes she could hit and the range that she could achieve. That was back in 1990 and she has since used her amazing voice to sell over 175 million records according to Billboard. That album featured the smash hit "Vision Of Love" which probably one of the most successful RNB songs of all time. It has been 19 years since that time and Mariah has been through a lot. She even had a role in the horrible Hollywood movie that was titled "Glitter" and she recently had a staring role in the movie "Precious" which has won a ton of awards. Since her movie is doing so well it is the perfect time for her new album and that is why I pre ordered her CD titled "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel " which is ironic because people usually do not consider Mariah perfect but I decided to pre order the CD at Best Buy because I loved her previous work with P. Diddy, The Lox, Mase and OBD. I did not however, enjoy the work she did with Jermine Dupri or Da Brat.

The CD includes 21 tracks in total broken up into 17 tracks on one CD and 4 tracks on the second CD. This CD is made up only of various versions of "Obsessed" which is a diss track between Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon and Eminem. I never understood why a women would diss Eminem but it was pretty funny. The first disc also includes "Obsessed" and I think this is overkill. What has always made Mariah great was when she talked about the real feelings that people express when they are in love or heartbroken. This is when she is at her best, songs like "Candy Bling" and "Up Out My Face" are a weird mix of RNB and rap that Mariah attempts are she is no rapper. The song "Angels Cry" is probably the best track on this CD but there are none like it to be found. Listen, this CD is repetitive and the material is pretty bad in terms of RNB. We all know Mariah has money but do we need to hear how great she is. This CD greats a 2/5 rating from me.
