Sneak Peak Album Review of the Music Scene by Blockhead

Rich Jones
If you only listen to Rap or any genre of music on the local radio station then you may be surprised to know that there are forms of music, which are only instrumental. This is the essential element of any track because every song must have a beat and without that element of a track you will not be able to record a song or have a track on the radio. What this means for aspiring artists is that they usually have to find samples bone by Just Blaze, Kanye West, Scott Storch, Diddy, Swizz Beats, Timbaland or Havoc and use a sample from a track that these artists have produced in order to record over the beat and make their own unique production and version of an old song which basically ends up sounding like a freestyle and makes the artist sound very minor because they do not have their own original beats to record on. The problem is that you want great beats and production values but you can't afford to have a track recoded by Pharrell Williams or Turk if you are not being paid for the song. Many people love to make music for fun or to try and become a part of the music business and these people have struggled to find beats.

That is, until Blockhead started releasing albums that featured instrumental Hip Hop and beats that you can use as an amateur artist in order to record an album or produce a CD. According to Billboard via their website Billboards.com Blockhead is one of the most popular and successful instrumental Hip Hop artists and producers because of his ability to create his own land and supply music for a need that has existed and this has sold millions of records for Blockhead. His beats are fantastic and this is why I decided to pre order his album Music Scene from Amazon but I thought I would listen to the album via Youtube to see how the album is before it ships and if I were getting what I expected.

The CD features 12 tracks in total and most of them are a decent length, they range between 04:40 and 06:35 in length which is great because it gives rappers plenty of time to create a unique song without being rushed or forced to hurry the track. There are some amazing beats here, it reminds me a lot of his work with Aesop Rock and the beats sound a lot like Rza (of Wu Tang). The CD is well worth the money and I would rate it a 4/5.
