Sneak Peak Album Review of November, November by Horse Stories

Rich Jones
Horse Stories is a band that I first discovered while watching VH1 during a late night. The song was titled Follow the Thames off of their album Everyone's A Photographer. Since I heard this song I have become a fan of this band because they make realistic songs about love and life. The songs are about living life and getting through rough times and I love the concept. There music would be considered Alternative and Rock music but I would say that it is a lot closer to Emo music. The reason is that the material on their previous album is very mellow and introspective. Toby Burke is the leader of this band and he is originally from Australia. According to his website, he moved from Australia to California and moved into a garage with no windows. He did this for inspiration and to generate material for this upcoming album titled November, November. He basically lived in a garage with no windows after bringing in a guitar and piano and started creating material for the album. The album marks two years of work and isolation by Toby Burke and for this reason I decided to pre order the album via Itunes Music Store. I thought it would be a good idea to listen to the CD via Youtube before it arrives in stores to see how good the CD actually is.

This CD includes just 10 tracks and the total length is about 42 minutes from start to finish. What I love about this CD is that the music is of the highest quality. I find that I have listened to each track at least 10 tracks simply because I enjoy the composition of the tracks. The lyrics are smooth and simple so it is easy to listen to. If you like this CD then you will also enjoy music by The Shins, Cat Power, Sufjan Stevens, and Bon Iver. The best songs on the CD are Standing in the Snow, Hole in the Head, and Believer but I can honestly tell you that I enjoyed every one of the tracks. There isn't a lot of material on this CD but the material on the CD is worth spending $9.00 on because you will enjoy owning this CD. This CD is a great return to recording for this band after a four-year break. I would rate this 4/5 because it has some good material.
