Sneak Peak Album Review of One Step Further by Ludacris

Rich Jones
Ludacris is a Rap star that has been around for a decade now and in that short amount of time he has become one of the most successful rappers. He has sold millions of records for Def Jam Records according to Billboard Charts available via their website at Billboard.com. He has also used the success of his music in order to get Hollywood roles and achieve success. His songs have been featured on such soundtracks as The Fast and the Furious, Cradle 2 the Grave, How High, and Rush Hour 2. Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges has also landed roles in films such as Hustle & Flow, Fred Claus, and Crash just to name a few. I have been a fan of his ever since I heard his single Area Codes with Nate Dogg. His music is so good because he mixes comedic observations with southern rap for a sound that I have never heard duplicated by another artist. That makes him special. In the music industry we often see artists that are content to duplicate others but Ludacris made up his own style. For this reason I decided to pre order his new CD titled One Step Further but I thought I would listen to the CD via Youtube

The CD features 18 tracks and it is about an hour in length from start to finish. One good thing about this CD is that it features a lot of artists and this gives the CD appeal to a lot of different audiences. The featured artists include Mario, Katt Williams, Lil Scrappy, Young Jeezy, Willie The Kid, DJ Drama, C-Ride, Yo Gotti, Brisco, Estelle, Johnta Austin, The Game, Lil Boosie, Playaz Circle, and Snoop Dogg to name a few. However, I think the tracks that are best on this CD are the tracks that don't have any featured artists. These tracks include Grizzly, How Low, and Yeah We Gettin Rich. The problem that I have with this CD is that most of these tracks have been released on mix CDs already by DJ Drama. The song that features The Game is called Monsters and it is very old. A good amount of this material feels like it has been included on the CD just for the features. However, if you don't own every Ludacris track you will enjoy this if you're a fan. I would rate this CD 3/5 because it could be a lot better.
