Sneak Peak Album Review of "Rebirth" Album by Lil Wayne

Rich Jones
Lil Wayne is probably one of the most well known rap stars in the world right now. The reason for this is that he has been on almost every remix song this year including tracks that feature Chris Brown, Jason Mraz and One Republic just to name a few. His is on almost every Hip Hop remix and appears on a ton of pop records this year. His last album "The Carter 3" was one of the best seller rap records in the last decade and what this means is that he has a very large fan base that awaits his music and is willing to pay to see him. He has also become well known lately for being sentences for facing gun charges that resulted from a trip to NY last year. Just about a month ago he was sentenced to six months in prison and it has been all over CNN, ABC, MSNBC and many other news outlets.

With this being the case there is a lot of interest in his new album which is titled "The Rebirth" and this is the reason I pre ordered the album from Amazon. The album will arrive in stores at the end of December but Amazon started shipping them early and so I was able to listen to the project in full and provide some insight. The album has 14 tracks in all and includes guest appearances from Shanell, Kevin Rudolf, Nicki Minaj (of Young Money), Gudda Gudda, Tyga, Dre and even Eminem. Their song "Drop The World" is one that has been in the works for at least a year and it is one of the best songs on the album. It is basically an emotional song that talks about death and leaving earth. It is not a side we often see of either Eminem or Lil Wayne and for this reason it is probably the best track of the album. A song that contrasts with this is "Amazing Love" in which he uses a robotic effect that lends to a song in which he doesn't even discuss love. The lyrics suck and his voice is very hard to hear. The track "Die For You" is one that is worth listening, it is about an undying love that is much like Kanye West sung about in his album "808s And Heartbreak" and this song feels like a copy of the album as many songs on this CD do. This CD is not worth the money, it is worse than his albums "The Carter" and I would suggest you pass on this 2/5 album at best.
