Sneak Peak Album Review of The R.E.D. Files> by the Game

Rich Jones
Ever since I first heard a track by The Game I have been a fan of his music. The first time I heard a track by him is when he was raping along with Xzibit on a mix CD that was released by Aftermath Records in order to showcase their current roster and upcoming artists. At that time The Game was a new artist and it showed because he was not appearing on tracks with Eminem or Dre but instead appeared with Xzibit and this showed that he was not considered an artist that was finished in terms of approach but a work in progress. It has been a long time since that mix CD and many of the artists that were featured on that CD have either been dropped from the record label or have managed to lose a lot of the talent and fame that was surrounding them at that time. However, The Game has become one of the most successful rap artists in the world according to the Billboard charts available via their website at Billboards.com. The Game has had three very successful albums that have been filled with great songs and guest appearances and this is the reason I decided to pre order this album titled The R.E.D. Files via Mixunit but I thought I would listen to the album via Youtube so that I would have an idea of what I was getting when it arrived.

The album featured a total of 17 songs and the CD is about 1 hour and 10 minutes in length. One of the best things about any album by The Game has been the guest appearances and this CD is no different. The guest appearances include Jaz-O, Ludacris, Raekwon, Diddy, Chris Brown, Anthony Hamilton, Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Chamillionaire, Damian Marley, Jay Rock, Twista and Ne-Yo. The producers featured on the CD include Scott Storch, Dre, Vidal, Kanye West, Traxster and DJ Khalil just to name a few. The great thing about this CD is that there is a lot of material and a ton of artists but the problem is that there are too many other artists on the CD and this takes away from the content. If you are a fan of The Game then you will enjoy this CD because it is basically a collection of some of his best music on one CD, I would rate this CD a 3/5 for the quality of material.
