Sneak Peak Album Review of "The Remix Suite" by Michael Jackson

Rich Jones
Universal Motown Records Is a record company that was made famous around 1980, the reason for this is that they were the home of Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 and this would go on to become one of the most successful combinations ever in music history. They held smash hits like "ABC" and "Ain't No Sunshine" in addition to the song "Maria" these were some of the biggest songs ever released and the reason that Michael Jackson went on to become the undisputed king of pop and one of the best recording artists ever. With the recent death of Michael Jackson this means that more MJ things than ever have become available so that the record company can capitalize on the situation and generate income. The problem with this is that his father Joe Jackson is someone who is known as hungry for making money and that means that the music is sure to be re-released many times just to milk the music for all it is worth. I don't think there is anything worse to get to great music than to remix it and take away from the original appeal. However, this project titled "The Remix Suite" was supposed to be an amazing project that would transform music forever with amazing producers. I had very high expectations for this CD and that's why I pre ordered the CD at Best Buy but I thought I would listen to this CD via Youtube and let you know how good it really is.

The CD features 12 songs which were originally recorded by the Jackson 5 when they were together. Each song is remixed by a specific superstar producer which includes Stargate, The Neptunes, Dallas Austin, Polow, Salaam Remi, Steve Aoki, Morales Giamsta, Benny Blanco, Swizz Beatz and Akon. The best son on this CD is "Ben" which has been remixed by Akon because it keeps the classic love feel of the original Michael Jackson feel and adds just a touch. The problem with this CD though is that we don't really need an Akon voice over the original song as is done here. The songs were great the original way they were recorded. Some of the songs that miss the mark like "Maybe Tomorrow" just fall short of the expectations set for the album. At least half of the songs on this album are worth having though and half of the beats just don't go with the tracks. I would rate this a 3/5 for that reason.
