Sneak Peak Album Review of Smoke and Mirrors by Lifehouse

Rich Jones
Lifehouse is a Rock music group that first achieved national fame in 2001 with their track Hanging by a Moment. According to Billboard charts available via their website at Billboard.com they have sold millions of records around the world. Hanging by a Moment is a track that is a good example of the musical themes that exist on a Lifehouse CD. They song is introspective and discusses the feelings behind love and pain. Lifehouse does an amazing job of discussing two sides of an issue, the love that a relationship brings in addition to the hurt. This is a method that has made Lifehouse so successful because it allows them to blend Pop music themes and Rock beats. I have been a fan of Lifehouse since 2001 and so I decided to pre order their upcoming CD titled Smoke And Mirrors via iTunes music store. I thought it would be a good idea to listen to the CD via YouTube before it arrives in stores so I would know the quality of Smoke And Mirrors before it arrives.

Smoke And Mirrors is a double disc project that features 16 tracks in total. There are 12 tracks on the first disc and 4 tracks on the second disc. The first disc is about 48 minutes in length and the second is about 20. Smoke And Mirrors is a double disc project that could have fit all of the material on just one CD. However, what I did like is that Smoke And Mirrors will only cost $10 so you are not being charged extra for the additional disc. My favorite tracks on Smoke And Mirrors are Halfway Gone, Nerve Damage and Wrecking Ball. These three tracks are some of the best Lifehouse material I have ever heard and they make Smoke And Mirrors worth the money. This CD features group members Rick Wollstenhulme, Jason Wade, Bryce Soderberg, and Ben Carey. What I love about Smoke And Mirrors is that Ben Carey fits very well into Lifehouse within the context of the project. I also enjoyed the unique sound on the CD and love the fact that Lifehouse is able to recreate the experience of a live show on this CD. The lyrics essentially love themed Pop and the music is Rock. I would rate Smoke And Mirrors 4/5 because it includes plenty of great music and I suggest you pick it up when it arrives in stores.
