Sneak Peak Album Review of Soul and Funk Collection CD by Mirage Records

Rich Jones
One of the hardest things to do when you have to give someone a gift for their birthday is actually deciding what it is that you want to give them. I usually decide to buy someone a music CD because I know that music is something that everyone enjoys also it is not very expensive at Amazon or Best Buy or even Target. It is a pretty safe gift because they can always bring it back and get a refund if they do not like the CD and it also has a way of brining back memories when it includes songs that you have loved for so long. My grandfather has a birthday coming up and so I decided to get him this CD Soul And Funk Collection which is a compilation album released by Mirage Records. I had never heard of this record company but I looked up the various included artists for the project and together they have sold millions of records according to the charts available at Billboards.com. My grandfather loves funk and for that reason I decided to pre order him this CD but I figured I should listen to the album via Youtube to see what I would be getting for my money and if it makes a good gift.

The answer is that it does make a great gift and I am happy that I purchased the album. I will be very happy when it arrives because the artists included on the CD are First Love, Branda K. Starr, The System, The Spinners, Blue Magic, Taka Boom, Terri Jones and Jean Knight just to name a few. There are 15 tracks in total and the length of the album is about 1hr and 20 minutes, which means that there is a lot of material on this album. There is plenty to enjoy here and that is what I love about the CD. This is volume 3 in the series and if you love the CD then I suggest you get the earlier two volumes even though this is probably the best so far. The best tracks are Climate For Love, Smoothin Groovin and She Does but all the material on the CD is at least worth a listen. This is much like a Blues CD but it has an upbeat feeling that I enjoy and I think any Funk fan will love this so I rate it a 4/5.
