Sneak Peak Album Review of Thank Me Later by Drake

Rich Jones
For those that may not know, Drake is an artist that was discovered by Lil Wayne and signed to Young Money Records. He is also signed to Cash Money Records; this recording deal means that Lil Wayne and Baby sponsor him. Young Money is a group of young artists that Lil Wayne decided to assemble and Drake has experienced a lot of fame because of this group. Many people enjoy the music of Drake because it combines Rap lyrics with a song approach that is normally found in R&B music. The lyrics are about confidence and living a nice lifestyle. The objective is to make the fan feel envious of the lifestyle that Drake is living. Many of the lyrics are also about love and partying, but combination has translated to a very successful following for both Lil Wayne and Drake. Fans of both of these artists have been waiting for the Drake album ever since the launch of the Young Money group. The album is titled Thank Me Later and I pre ordered this album as a gift for a female family member. I decided to stream the album through YouTube in order to see if the album was worth the $10 price.

Thank Me Later is an album that includes 14 tracks with a total length of about 61 minutes from beginning to end. The featured artists on this CD include Nicki Minja, Swizz Beatz, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and Alicia Keys. The opening track that features Alicia Keys is probably the worst song that I have ever heard recorded by Drake. The best tracks on this CD include Show Me A Good Time, Unforgettable, and Light Up. Lil Wayne fans will also enjoy the track titled Miss Me, the problem here is that Drake does not stand up on each of these track on his own. The beats that have been contributed by Kanye West are amazing, but I think that these are the only tracks that are worth the money. This CD is about 50 minutes of wasted time and I find that only four tracks are worth investing money in. I will be purchasing this CD as a gift, I am not a Drake fan and I came into this project with an open mind. However, I find that the lyrics on this CD constantly discuss how great Drake thinks he looks. I would rate this CD 2/5 and I believe you should save your money.
