Sneak Peak Album Review of "Thug Revolution" by 2pac

Rich Jones
When Rap mega star 2pac died in 1996 I was a very young man and I had never heard his music other than his song "Hit Em Up" which was a diss record aimed at his Hip Hop rival Biggie Smalls. Since his death, I am millions of others have become very familiar with his music and all of his amazing tracks that he recorded during his life. The special thing about 2pac is that he died at just 25 with a huge collection of music. He knew that his time was limited on this earth and so he recorded non stop and finished thousands of songs while he was alive. He did this because according to many interviews he has done with Vibe magazine he has always suspected that he would die early in life and he wanted to record as much as possible. With this being the case, even though he is long gone he still have new songs that are released once in a while. These are usually put on albums to be sold at the end of December. I supposed this is a way to make someone give his album as a gift to another who is a fan. Since his death, he has released a total of 5 albums which means that he releases an album once every 2 years on average. This year the project "Thug Revolution" will be released at the end of this year and offered up to fans as the latest album that they can't miss.

I was able to listen to the full album via Youtube and determine if the project is worth a purchase or if you should save your money. The album includes 12 tracks in total and none of them are new. They are lyrics taken from other songs and put together with different artists. Guest appearances include 50 cent, Wyclef, Jadakiss, Xzibit and Busta Rhymes. The best tracks on the album include "Baby Don't Cry", "Homeboyz" and "Little Ghetto Boy". The problem with this CD is that it is 35 minutes in total which is a poor excuse for an album. This should be called an EP because it is very short. There is no new material and all of this material appeared on a CD called "Rap Phenomenon Pt. 2" produced by DJ Green Lantern and Dirty Harry. All of the songs on "Thug Revolution" were released on their CD back in 2003. If you want this material then pick up the Green Lantern CD and skip this version its 2/5 rated.
