Sneak Peak Album Review of Together You and I by Barton Carroll

Rich Jones
Barton Carroll is a Folk singer that sounds a lot like a Country artist. He is well known for the type of music that he sings which is basically music about relationships and problems in those relationships. He records songs about life and suffering because of loneliness. The songs are often very artistic and should be appreciated from the creative writing. The thing about these songs is that Barton talks about love in an honest and realistic way that you will not find in another artist. Baton produces music a lot like Okkervil River, Dan Auerbach, and Patrick Watson. I enjoy his previous CD titled Love & War and so I decided to pre order his new CD titled Together You and I. I thought it would be a good idea to listen to the CD via Youtube before it arrives in stores to see what I would be getting for the money.

The CD includes 10 tracks and the total length is about 42 minutes from start to finish. I will admit that the short length is a problem for me because I wish there was more music on this release. However, what I love about this CD is the music and that makes the CD well worth $10 that I paid. The best tracks on the CD are Shadowman, Let's Get on With the Illusion, and This Town Is Cold but I enjoy all of these songs. What is so great about this CD is the approach to song making from the prospective of a music that is down and out. If you consider yourself a lost soul or you just enjoy slow music that is easy going then you will love this CD. I will admit that this CD is depressing but I think that is what makes it great. It isn't fake or anything that is a bad attempt to sell records. Barton has some very realistic and depressing music on this CD and I love it. I would rate this CD 4/5 because it is very much worth the money if you are a fan. However, if this is not the type of music that you enjoy then I suggest you stay away and don't buy this CD. This is probably the best CD I have heard released from Barton Carroll and probably one of the best CDs that will be released this year of any genre.
