Sneak Peak Album Review of I Told You I was Freaky by Flight of the Conchords

The Flight of The Conchords is a musical band and comedy act that I first discovered in 2007 when my girlfriend became fascinated with them after watching their highly rated show on HBO that is also called The Flight of The Conchords and when I say highly rated I mean very highly rated. According to the HBO website this show averaged 7 million viewers per episode and their season DVD collections have also sold millions. Before the show I had never heard of this comedy duo but apparently they were already very famous in their home country New Zealand. The show is basically almost a cross between The Odd Couple and Scrubs in the sense that the band members Brett and Jermaine live together and essentially play in a band but also go on dates with each other and mess up every relationship that the other has. It plays off them being close and a fear that any female will break up the band and so it becomes a joke that is very similar to Zach Braff and Donald Faison in Scrubs. The show is a lot better than another HBO offering "East Bound And Down" so if you have never seen it you should check it out. Last year I was able to get tickets to their show via Stubhub in Houston, TX at the Jones Theatre and along with them was fellow actor on their show and comedian Eugine Merman.

Because of how great the show was I decided that I would purchase some of their music as a gift for my girlfriend and I did not enjoy their CD "The Distant Future" but I decided that I would pre order their CD "I Told You I Was Freaky" on Amazon. The CD will soon be released and I thought before it arrives in stores I would listen to the CD via Youtube and let you know how it is. The CD features 13 songs which is a lot for them so they do not have much material. Most of the songs were originally written for the show so I am glad to see them included here. The best songs are "Friends" and "Carol Brown" which are featured in season 2 of the show on HBO. I liked every track unlike their previous CDs, if you enjoy love songs or even Kat Williams then you should check CD out I would rate it a 4/5.
