Sneak Peak Album Review of "Underground Legend 2" by Lil Flip

Rich Jones
Lil Flip was one of the most successful southern rap artists in 2004. His album titled "U Gotta Feel Me" on Sony Records sold several million records and put Lil Flip at the top of the Billboard charts. Since then Lil Flip has released his CD titled "I Need Mine" which sold 150,000 records in the United States. This album was not much of a success because it never met the highs that he achieved with the song "The Way We Roll". Lil Flip also released many great tracks since this album some of which included "Game Over", "Sunshine" and "I Can Do That" which featured Juvenile and Slim. He has also recorded some great music which features Snoop Dogg,Three 6 Mafia., Lil Wayne, T.I., Young Jeezy, Busta Rhymes and Jim Jones amongst others.

Flip has used these guest appearances and the success of his initial record to sell millions of records. One of his best CDs was "Underground Legend" which also featured guest appearances by David Banner, C-Note and Bizzy Bone (Of Bone Thugs). To me, this was some of his best material released to date and it included a tribute track to DJ Scew. For this reason I decided to pre order his upcoming CD titled "Underground Legend 2" at Amazon and decided that I would listen to the album via Youtube until the project is released. I must tell you that this CD is better than what I expected and it is well worth the money.

The "Underground Legend 2" CD features 21 tracks including some skits and intros, most of the songs are pretty short and done in a mixtape form. Essentially, there are two verses and a hook and some are just a verse like a basic Hip Hop freestyle. This CD features guest appears by Bobby Moon, Big T, Big Shasta, C-note, and Chris-sko. The best songs on this CD are "She Like My Swagger", "Trunk Banging Hard" and "Nobody Understand Me". There are a few songs that should be removed from this CD. It is package with material and it should be trimmed down a bit to just keep the best of the CD. This would make it about 15 tracks long which is plenty without the filler and intros. The music on the CD is pretty good, the raps are slow just like DJ Screw would have done for Lil Flip (except a bit faster than that). Most of the songs are about money and having a good time. There is no negative aspects to this and for that it gets a 3/5 rating from me.
