Available for purchase in over 12 countries and known all over the world as the world's classiest sports car, Jaguar, is once again turning heads. Jaguar announced the production of a new sedan, the Jaguar 2009 XF.

Traditionally the Jaguar, well over $60,000, is not the first car that comes to mind when you thing of families and kids. However, Jaguar has had an s-type sports sedan on the market for a while. The Jaguar 2009 XF will replace the old sedan and enter the market as a mid-size luxury car, according to Jaguar.

Jaguar has always been a luxury class car, and a company which rewards buyers well. Jags are loaded with features and options. They are eye catching, sultry drives. The new Sedan, the Jaguar 2009 XF, will be true to consumer expectations in a Jag. According to Jaguar's press release Bibiana Boerio, managing director of Jaguar Cars, Jaguar expects the new sedan to "challenge people to think again about jaguar as daring and different."

Building on the success of Jaguar's new XK, Jaguar Cars is moving aggressively into a new design era for the company. The new Jaguar was developed at the Product Development Center at Whitley in Coventry, UK and will be built at Jaguar's Advanced Manufacturing Center at Castle Bromwich in Birmingham, UK with sleek lines and innovative design.

The Jaguar 2009 XF offers flash and flare to the mid-size luxury car market. The car will be available in luxury, premium luxury, and supercharged models. The four door sports sedan will come standard with a 4.2L/V8 engine, offering a minimum of 300 horsepower. Alloy wheels are standard in 18" Cygnus, 19" Auriga and Volans, and 20" Selena, respectively on each model. Jaguar's wheel design follows the general sports car standard, which may make the car more susceptible to side impact damage during use. If you are driving a Jaguar, however, you should be able to get out of the way.

All models have 4-wheel drive and anti-lock braking systems. Electric Parking Break (EPB) offers drive away release for those who forget to release the parking break before squealing away. The Jaguar 2009 XF will have a six speed electronic automatic transmission with Jaguar sequential shift and steering wheel mounted paddles. The suspension is a four -wheel independent computer active technology suspension (CATS ™).

Optional features include rear camera with wheel alignment parking graphics and increased rear-vehicle visibility. Side mounted radar sensors serve as blind spot monitors integrated with side mirror blind spot warning lights. Consumers may also add bi-xenon headlamps with hidden power-washers. A front bumper sensor sounds in the cabin to keep you from plowing into curbs and parking guides.

An optional cool climate package includes 3 stage heated seats and a heated three spoke steering wheel.

A navigation system may be added with optional maps and points-of-interest packages also available. Navigation is voice guided and automatically turns down the car audio system when driver directions are given.

The 2009 Jaguar XF luxury sedan will also offer Jaguar Voice Activated Controls ™ which offer voice activated software for a various navigation commands.

If you aren't up for options, the standard comes with a 7" touch screen display with audio, climate control, and Bluetooth navigation. The interior rearview mirror is auto dimming. Exterior mirrors are adjusted electronically with driver memory options. They are also heated and auto-dimming. One touch electric windows are equipped with anti-trap devices.

Front seats are 10 positions, powered, and equipped with driver memory. The rear seat folds in a 60/40 split. Of course the seats are soft grain leather for maximum class and comfort.

Halogen headlights are standard except on the super-charged model. The super-charged 2009 Jaguar XF gets the bi-xenon, auto leveling hidden power-washers gratis.

Premium sound with a six disc changer and surround sound round and Sirius Satellite Radio round out the driving experience in Jaguar's 2009 XF sedan.

With an automobile like this you don't need a destination, just take a drive.

Somehow, I have a hard time picturing Jaguar and "family" together.

I haven't thought of Jaguar as a family car, so this is interesting. It's a nice car, so maybe you could get me one for Christmas! Just kidding (unless you ARE going to get me one). Great article.

This is a beautiful looking car. I'd better not show this to my husband or he'll add this to his "wish list".

It looks like you got some unexpectedly racy comments from non-AC-folks. (Maybe you will have deleted these by the time this one posts.) I like this article about the JAZZY NEW JAGUAR. Hey, Santa! (just kidding). ;-)
