Sneak Peak Review of The Ultimate Motown Christmas Collection by Motown Records

Rich Jones
According to their website Motown.com, Motown Records is one of the most successful record companies in the history of sales and musical production. The reason for this is that the many behind the record label is Barry Gordy and he was known for his ability to discover talent and produce their projects. The great thing about this record company was that they had artists that are known as soul acts such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie and The Supremes. They also had acts that were at the top of the Pop world such as Michael Jackson, The Jackson 5, Rick James and New Edition.

I simply couldn't imagine a better lineup of artists, if you love music at all then in my opinion Motown has probably been responsible for brining you the songs you have loved for so long because they have producer all the classics. For this reason, I decided that I would pre order the Motown compilation album titled "The Ultimate Motown Christmas Collection" which I paid just $15 for, the reason I ordered this was as a gift for my father. I wished that they decided to ship the CD before the holiday but when it does arrive I am sure he will enjoy it. I decided to listen to the album via Youtube before the CD arrives and I thought it would be helpful to review the album.

This is a two disc project which includes a total of 51 tracks, there are 25 on the first CD and 26 on the next. What this means is that the CDs include a lot of material but each CD is under 72 minutes which means that each song is under three minutes. So essentially here is the problem, the songs are good but they are very short and I just wish they were longer. The artists included here are The Jackson 5, The Temptations, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, The Funk Brothers, The Commodores, Four Tops, Johnny Gill, Marvin Gaye, David Ruffin, Diana Ross, Boyz II Men, Kim Weston, The Twistin Kings, Shorty Long, The Elgins, and The Velvelettes. The best tracks on the CD are "What Christmas Means To Me", "Silver Bells", "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" and "This Christmas" but all the tracks are worth a listen. There is a lot of star power on this CD and a many tracks even though they are short it is an enjoyable experience. I would rate this CD a 3/5 and I suggest you pick it up.
