Sneak Peek Album Review of First Box Then Walk by Oy

Rich Jones
The unique thing about music is that it is the only form of art that requires an artist to fit in a specific box. The artist is either considered a Country or RNB artist that is expected to fit their music into the usual box. If a fan hears a certain type or style of music from an artist then they tend to expect an artist to fit into that same box. They expect the same type of material out of every album from that artist and they close their minds to anything new or different from the artist. This can be a problem for creativity because the artist is not allowed to do anything creative.

However, I find that some artistic artists are content going out of the box and creating something new. I enjoy artists such as Julien Aubert, Joe Galen and Cosili. These are artists that have sold millions of records according to Billboard Charts available via their website at Billboard.com. Based on these musical favorites I visited the Itunes Music Store and they suggested I purchase First Box Then Walk by Oy. I decided to pre order their upcoming album but I thought I would listen to the CD via Youtube before it arrives in stores so I would know what to expect.

The CD has 26 tracks and it is about 55 minutes in length from start to finish. What I like about the CD is that each track is done well without making the songs carry on too long. I love the smooth mixture of the leading lady's beautiful voice of fast beats. It is soothing and easy to listen to. This is music that you could listen to while doing work or at a coffee shop. She has a great voice but the problem is that her voice is often pretty low and hard to make out the lyrics.

Another thing to some people will not enjoy is that this album is a mixture of different types of music. It includes everything from songs including pianos, to songs using rap and even some symphony music. The best tracks on the CD are Positivli Two, Toilet Witch and I'll Build My Church but there is plenty to listen to here. I enjoyed the spoken word tracks the most and I loved the instrumentals. I believe any fan of poetry would enjoy this and I rate it 3/5.
