Sneak Peek Album Review of Soldier of Love by Sade

Rich Jones
Sade is English RNB group that has achieved a lot of success in music. The band has sold millions of records around the world according to Billboard Charts available via their website at Billboard.com. Their debut album titled Diamond Life sold over 17 million copies making it one of the most successful releases to date. The band includes members Sade Adu, Stuart Colin Matthewman, Paul Spencer Denman, Paul Anthony Cook, and Andrew Hale. I was able to see the band on tour in 2001 and I love their live show. The show mixes in elements of African drums and also blends in Soul music. The lyrics are RNB in nature but the unique mix of musical genres makes for an interesting show and this is what I love. I have been a fan of this band ever since attending their show. For this reason I decided to pre order their upcoming album titled Soldier of Love via the Itunes Music Store. I thought it would be a good idea to listen to the CD before it arrives in stores to see what I would be getting when it is released.

The CD includes 10 tracks and the length is 43 minutes from start to finish. I think this is a let down because the CD feels incomplete. It has been several years since a release by Sade and this Soldier of Love CD. One thing I can say about the CD is that the material on the project is worth listening to and adding to your collection. This CD also features the single Soldier of Love and since it is additionally the title of the album it gives off the idea that this is the best track. However, I think that this is probably not as great as the best songs on the CD. The best tracks on this CD include Morning Bird, Long Hard Road, and The Safest Place. What I love about this CD is the mixture of different styles of music. Sade borrows elements from all different types and infuses them with African music that makes for great listening. The lyrics are from the heart and I enjoy the love stories on each track. If you are a fan then I suggest you pick this CD up because it is well worth $10. I would rate this CD 3/5 because of the short length of the project.
