November is just around the corner and I have some new upcoming movie releases for the entire family to enjoy. The first involves a gritty crime drama, the second tells the story of a unique child, the third is a Christmas comedy and the fourth tells a very powerful story. Without further ado, let's see what films we have to look forward to in the month of November!

American Gangster

This crime drama tells the real life tale of a man by the name of Frank Lucas during the 1970's in Harlem, New York. He becomes top dog in a drug empire after his superior passes away. His drug of choice? Heroin. It is brought into the United States illegally and is concealed in coffins that hold the bodies of soldiers that have fought in Vietnam. A determined cop by the name of Richie Roberts attempts to get Lucas off the streets. "American Gangster" stars Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, Cuba Gooding Jr. as well as Josh Brolin. "American Gangster is directed by Ridley Scott who has also directed "Kingdom of Heaven" as well as "Black Hawk Down". "American Gangster" is to be released in theaters on November 2nd.

Martian Child

This unique comedy drama tells the tale of a writer who adopts a 6 year old boy after the devastating death of his fiancee. This isn't your ordinary little boy either, he makes the strange assertion that he is from the planet known as Mars. This is based on a novel by David Gerrold. "Martian Child" stars John Cusack, Joan Cusack, Bobby Coleman, Amanda Peet, Sophie Okonedo as well as Oliver Plat. It is directed by Menno Meyjes. "Martian Child" is to be released in theaters on November 2nd.

Fred Claus

This holiday comedy is just in time for the Christmas season. It tells the story of Fred Claus, who has never quite lived up to the ideal person his brother Nicholas (aka Santa) is. It doesn't help either that Nicholas is the younger of the two brothers. Fred has gotten himself in a bit of trouble and finds himself in jail. This might have to do with all the thefts he's been committing. Nicholas being the kind hearted person he is, agrees to help his brother out and in exchange, he must work at the North Pole. Christmas isn't far away though and Nicholas might have gotten more than he bargained for with Fred. "Fred Claus" stars Vince Vaughn, Paul Giamatti, Miranda Richardson, Kevin Spacey, Kathy Bates, Elizabeth Banks as well as Ludacris. "Fred Claus" is directed by David Dobkin who also directed the successful comedy, "Wedding Crashers". "Fred Claus" is to be released in theaters on November 9th.

Lions for Lambs

This intense drama revolves around two students who come to the realization that they must fight in Afghanistan after being taught by a professor by the name of Dr. Malley. The professor also attempts to get through to a student who feels he isn't affected by what is going on in the world. Throw into the mix, a senator and a journalist who work together on a story. All three tales are soon strung as one. "Lions for Lambs" stars Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise and Andrew Garfield. This drama is directed by Robert Redford. "Lions for Lambs" is to be released in theaters on November 9th.
