Sneak Peek Review of the Children's DVD Bob the Builder: The Golden Hammer - the Movie
Due to Be Released December 28
Synopsis and Review of the Children's DVD Bob the Builder: The Golden Hammer - The Movie
A job of replacing the pillars at a local museum in Fixham causes Spud and Scrambler to become obsessed with finding a golden hammer after they hear the story about the town's founder, Brickbeard, a pirate, allegedly hiding it somewhere in town. The buccaneer vowed that no one would ever find it. Over the course of the film, Spud and Scrambler keep finding duplicate boxes where the legendary object is supposed to reside, but instead only find pictures of objects, clues which lead to more clues with each ensuing job for the team of Bob the Builder like installing new windows at a toy store, replacing a school's wall, renovating a lighthouse and amphitheater. As the film progresses, the rest of the crew becomes interested in the quest while they wreak some havoc during their projects. The bonus feature for this children's DVD is an interactive game called "Build a House with Bob."
I recommend Bob the Builder: The Golden Hammer - The Movie because it's got a good pace, and will keep small kids interested and engaged with the story, while helping their critical thinking skills come along. There's brief intervals where ol' Brickbeard himself reviews the clues found so far before returning to the story. Additionally, the values of teamwork and listening to those in charge are also stressed throughout the animated film.
The running time for this children's DVD is about 60 minutes and can be heard in both English and Spanish languages. Bob the Builder: The Golden Hammer- The Movie is due for release to retail outlets like Amazon.com on December 28 and its Suggested Retail Price is $9.98. I was provided a review copy of this children's DVD by Lionsgate and HiT Entertainment, but was under no obligation to recommend it. My observations are my own.
