Synopsis and Review of the Children's DVD Angelina Ballerina: Pop Star Girls
Five videos make up this product, which primarily focuses on the mice of the Camembert Academy performing in front of others. First, in "Angelina's Crazy Solo," the ballerina mouse finds it difficult to perform her soloist duties because she's got a large prop to dance with and has lots of other props to dance around, yet she has more difficulty bringing up her concerns. In the short called "Angelina's Rock Band," Angelina isn't happy about having a small role in her friends' rock band, and shows a bad attitude about rehearsal. The main character has trouble trying to help Marco dance in her hip hop production, especially after he has to take the lead role, in "Angelina's Hip Hop Boys Show."
A production of "Jackie and the Beanstalk" becomes a giant headache for the mice because of the giant prop in "Angelina and the Giant." The final episode in this children's DVD, "Angelina and the Broken Fiddle," has dad's fiddle broken by the main character and her sister Polly after they mess around, and they struggle with being honest about their mistake and with finding replacement parts for the family heirloom. The bonus feature includes a "Dancing Star" memory game.
Little children, especially girls, will learn some good lessons about life by watching these five episodes, including being communicative about one's concerns; to appreciate one's role, no matter how small; to simplify matters; and taking responsibility for one's mistakes. There's some really good sound effects displayed, too; and thus, I recommend this children's DVD.
Angelina Ballerina: Pop Star Girls is due for release to retail outlets like Amazon.com on June 7, and has a Suggested Retail Price of $14.98. It has a running time of just about 61 minutes. One can listen to this product in English, Spanish, and French. For more information about Angelina Ballerina, go to the mouse's website here.
I was provided this children's DVD for review, but was under no obligation to recommend Angelina Ballerina: Pop Star Girls. My observations are my own.
