This is a sneak peek review of the children's DVD Roary the Racing Car. It's from Lionsgate and HiT Entertainment and the premiere video of this character is due out on June 7. I was provided this children's DVD for review, but was under no obligation to recommend Roary the Racing Car. My observations are my own.

Synopsis and Review of the Children's DVD Roary the Racing Car

Six episodes make up this video about a little and precocious racing car and his other racing car pals at the Silver Hatch Racetrack. First, in "Stars '‹Å"n' Cars," Roary fears that the head mechanic Big Chris will leave them for good if he wins a karaoke contest on TV, so he plots to make the wannabe star feel needed. In "Rusty Takes a Trip," Big Chris' old trailer Rusty feels down since he's not used for trips anymore, and is without wheels, so the racing cars fix him up and take him around the racing track. Next, in "Big Chris Babysits," the head mechanic gets a bit distracted trying to fix Heli (a helicopter), and loses track of the race cars he's to babysit.

The next short in this Roary the Racing Car children's DVD is called "Roary Gets It Wrong," seeing the star racing car take on delivering several packages, which he gives to the wrong recipients. In "Computer Calamity," Big Chris isn't happy that he's got to tune up the race cars only with a computer, and ends up quitting over it. The final episode is called "Big Chris Forgets," where the lead mechanic becomes too occupied with chores that he loses a valuable birthday present for his co-worker Marsha, a present from all the gang. The bonus feature includes a short music video.

The special effects of this video are quite impressive, for when the cars were zooming around the track, it was as if my laptop was vibrating with the action. Small kids will learn some good life lessons from the rather hyperactive racers, including following their dreams, that technology isn't everything, and to be careful. So I recommend this children's DVD.

Roary the Racing Car is due for release to retail outlets like Amazon.com on June 7, and has a Suggested Retail Price of $14.98. The video has a running time of just about 55 minutes. One can listen to this product in English. For more information about Roary the Racing Car, go to this website
