Synopsis and Review of the Children's Book about France The Boy Who Wanted to Cook

In the south of France along the River Tarn, there is a ten year old boy named Pierre. He's a chip off the old block, for like his father, who runs a renowned local restaurant, he's passionate about food. The problem is that despite his passion for food, he's considered too young to work in the kitchen. Pierre's love of food is so strong, that when he's outdoors, he sees goodies everywhere; for instance, he knows the best fishing spots for trout and where sought-after berries "hide."

The challenge for the main character comes when he gives directions to a food inspector who hands out stars to restaurants: not to tip off his father that this man is coming to rate his restaurant (which is considered dishonorable) but also to do his part by adding his own special ingredient to his father's beef stew because he thinks it will impress the inspector.

This 34 page book features a glossary at the end containing French words and phrases that were used in the story, as well as a guide to pronouncing them. This tale has a good narrative and the illustrations help make the French countryside as well as French cuisine come to life; and thus, I do recommend this upcoming release.

This children's book about France is scheduled to be available at retail outlets like Amazon.com on September 9, 2011, and its Suggested Retail Price is $16.95. This one sounds really cute. It is not surprising to find that children all over the world want to be like a parent that they look up to, and cooking is a cool profession for both father and son.
