Sneak Peek Review of the Children's Animated DVD Fireman Sam: Brave New Rescues

This is a sneak peek review of the children's animated DVD Fireman Sam: Brave New Rescues. This product comes from Lionsgate and HiT Entertainment and is due for release on July 5. I was provided a copy of this product for review, but was under no obligation to recommend it. My observations are my own.

Synopsis and Review of the Children's Animated DVD Fireman Sam: Brave New Rescues

The fictional Welsh town of Pontypandy is the setting for six fire and rescue calls set to animation. The town brat, Norman Price, figures in all of them, making the fire and rescue crew earn their pay. In "Cry Wolf," Norman keeps on setting false alarms in his mother's shop, but then he and mom worry that the crew won't come when they really need them; meanwhile, a fox is pinching food around town. Norman goes against fire crewwoman Penny's admonition to not sail his boat without proper adult supervision, and gets into a jam in "Blow Me Down." In "Dilys's Big Surprise," Norman's plans to surprise his mother with a birthday cake literally go up in smoke and flames at his friend Mandy's house.

The fourth episode of Fireman Sam: Brave New Rescues is called "Model Plane." Norman uses James' flying model plane to create mischief around town, then outside it, but his misdeeds cause both kids to need rescuing from a tree. "Open Day" sees Norman and James mess around the fire station during an open house and rescue demonstrations for the town, but their horseplay leads to them needing rescuing from a high rooftop. The final episode in this children's animated DVD is called "Mike's Rocket." Mandy's father plans a big rocket launch outside Pontypandy, and it inspires Norman to create his own rocket without proper supervision, which leads to near disaster.

Through well-paced storytelling and action-packed animation full of fire and rescue equipment, vehicles, and staff, Fireman Sam helps teach kids how important it is to have adult supervision around the areas of cooking, making projects that involve explosives, etc. Additionally, children will learn the importance of not setting off fire alarms. I strongly recommend this children's animated DVD.
