This is a sneak peek review of the children's DVD Barney: 1 2 3 Learn. This product comes from Lionsgate and HiT Entertainment and is due for release on July 12. I was provided a copy of this product for review, but was under no obligation to recommend it. My observations are my own.

Synopsis of the Children's DVD Barney: 1 2 3 Learn

Three episodes make up this video, where Barney's dinosaur pals BJ, Baby Bop, and Riff learn more about the world around them. First, in "Shapes," Riff loses his good luck medal, which makes him reluctant to participate in the games for the upcoming carnival. Barney and the gang sing and dance about various shapes like circles, triangles, and squares while Riff finally learns to try even if he doesn't have his good luck charm. In "Counting," Baby Bop has a tantrum because Riff and BJ won't let her look for treasure with them since she doesn't know how to count (necessary to follow the treasure map). So Barney and the kids help her to learn how to count to five so she can look for treasure, too. And the littlest of the dinosaurs surprises her older counterparts in the end.

Finally, in "Letters," BJ wants to put on a musical concert, but he's got to learn more letters for the advertising sign so the words "Music Concert" can be made. The bonus feature in this video presentation includes a counting game.

More about the Children's DVD Barney: 1 2 3 Learn

Barney & Friends
teach little children not only how to count, recognize shapes and letters, but their singing about these functions will help kids retain better what they've learned in this video. Some life lessons for children are taught, including to compete for fun and do your best rather than relying on lucky charms to win, so I recommend this product.

The video runs about 44 minutes in length and can be heard in both English and Spanish. The children's DVD has a Suggested Retail Price of $14.98. Barney: 1 2 3 Learn will be available at retail outlets like Amazon.com on July 12. For more information about Barney, go to the dinosaur's website here

This is a good one. Tantrums are a part of life, and kids need to see how to deal with them constructively.
