Available September 1

Roy A. Barnes
This is a sneak peek review of the new release children's book called The Boy and the Moon. It is authored and illustrated by James Christopher Carroll, and published by Sleeping Bear Press. September 1 is the scheduled release date of a product whose author/illustrator has had his creations appear at the United Nations, according to the dust jacket. I was provided a copy of this children's book The Boy and the Moon by Sleeping Bear Press, but was under no obligation to recommend it. My observations are my own.

Synopsis of the Children's Book The Boy and the Moon

Over the course of 32 pages, a little boy and his animal and plant friends enjoy the moon at midnight. That is, until the moon gets stuck in an apple tree. Everyone is sad until the boy uses his creative mind to figure out how to unloose the moon from the tree.

I strongly recommend The Boy and The Moon. What really makes this book are the large and beautifully-detailed nighttime illustrations that take up 1-2 full pages (the book measures out to be 11 ¼" high, 9 ¼" wide, and 3/8" thick, making the pictures really stand out because of the height and width of the pages). The story itself is told in a poetic type of style, with a narrative that children and adults can easily be won over by. Anyone who's ever noticed a tree obscuring the moon and its light will find this book has an interesting interpretation about it. After reading and being captivated by the illustrations, the first thought that came to my mind was envisioning the late Fred Rogers reading a book like this on his television show, had the book been published during the run of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.

This children's book will be available at retail outlets like Amazon.com on September 1, and its Suggested Retail Price is $15.95. The ISBN Number for The Boy and the Moon is 1585365211. Very nice review Roy! I love childrens books with the vivid pictures, and this story sounds like it could get children to really think about situations that require a solution and how to make it happen. : )

I love stories about the moon, sounds interesting even if I'm quite a few years older than a child. Good review.
