Sneak Peek: Transformers 3

More Movie Sequels Set for 2012

In not so surprising news, Michael Bay hasn't officially announced his plans for the second sequel to his 2007 box office summer smash hit Transformers. Revenge of the Fallen proved to be formidable in earnings by garnering more than 800 million dollars this summer. Now what is next for Michael Bay and his prized baby? Nobody really knows at the moment because there is a slight chance that the studio might actually replace Bay as director. There are so many choices to choose from in Hollywood, that it might give me a major migraine. So instead of complaining about who should direct the next Transformers movie, I will go over the Autobots that need to be introduced to the fans.

The Autobot that I truly hope makes a cameo in the next film would have to be Ultra Magnus. He is basically Optimus Prime's twin brother according to the comics, but should he be able to transform into a freightliner truck in the movie as well? It is very hard to decide because there is always that possibility that Magnus may sport the vintage cab from the 1986 animated movie. That would really catch all the fanboy's attention since they always complain that the Bayformers aren't like the Transformers they grew up watching. My image of the perfect movie Ultra Magnus would indeed be his vintage cab form, but attached to that cab should be a futuristic car carrier for the likes of Bumblebee and Sideswipe to travel in. So there we have it folks! If Transformers 3 in the summer of 2012, it may have to compete with Christopher Nolan's Batman and Eastman and Laird's live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. 2012 will definitely be the summer of superheroes.

Another wacky rumor involved with the third installment of Transformers would be the long awaited cameo of the planet-eating Transfomer Unicron. Personally, I believe the addition of that character would be way too soon for the movie franchise since Bay had mentioned that he would hope to do Transformers 4 and 5 in the near future. Unicron should make his presence felt around the ending of the fourth film and explained in the fifth. I am just hoping that the writers do not kill off Optimus Prime once again because it has been done countless of times in the past in both cartoons and comics. I believe that these two sequels should be more about the planet the Transformers were from (Cybertron).

Characters from the movie are based on toys manufactured by both Takara and Hasbro
